Lexical-semantic development
Until recently, there has been little evidence regarding how and when infants begin to integrate words into an inter-connected semantic system and to develop an organized system encoding relationships between words. Our studies aim to understand neural mechanisms underlying this development both in monolingual and bilingual infants. Our aim is also to investigate how lexical-semantic organization in the bilingual brain is shaped by language distance, that is, which languages (e.g., French and Spanish, or French and Arabic) a child is acquiring.
