My research focuses on the neurocognitive mechanisms underlying language acquisition, specifically exploring how cognitive constraints and language exposure interactively shape memory and language processing across the lifespan. Currently, in my postdoctoral work supervised by Thierry Nazzi, I am investigating how early phonolexical acquisition influences later vocabulary development. Adopting an integrative approach that combines electrophysiological methods (high-density event-related potentials) and behavioural measures, our project examines how monolingual and bilingual infants—both full-term and preterm—develop language-specific biases (consonant or vowel biases) at the age of 12 months. Our aim is to understand how this critical developmental stage has lasting impacts on linguistic and cognitive outcomes, with implications for educational practices and early intervention strategies.
