Lexical learning

Our project aims to find out which cognitive and developmental factors contribute to the activation of brain patterns during word learning and recognition in young children using the event-related potential (ERP) technique. The ERP technique is especially suitable for developmental and language research since it allows us to measure brain activity in response to external (e.g., words) and internal (e.g., attention) events without an overt motor or verbal reaction. Both monolingual and bilingual will be investigated to answer the question how language experience modulates novel word learning.
